To develop the student’s knowledge and understanding of delivering training within a health and social care organisation/environment.
Content Summary
The module will discuss the following:
Theories of Learning
Learning Styles
Motivation
Lesson Planning and design
Assessment and feedback
Reflective feedback and continuous professional development (CPD)
Content to include Introduction to learning styles and evaluation of different learning theories. Group and individual learning and the differences, for learners to reflect how this can relate to their own health or social care organisational setting. Introduction to the delivery of on-line learning materials and how this can be facilitated by the trainer. The use of self in mentoring, coaching, teaching, supervising and assessing learning of individuals.
The setting of SMART objectives and introduction to lesson planning. For students to create smart objectives for their micro-teaching session and create a concise lesson plan to accompany their session. This will then be submitted as part of their practical assessment. This module includes mandatory formative assessment activities, to support students learning and development prior to summative assessment tasks.
The student will also be expected to undertake a formative Peer reviewed microteaching session in a safe classroom context. The session will be presented in a variety of media e.g. written, audio, video, graphic, visual.
