Module Aims

To prepare the student for the WIOC clinical environment (procedures) and the role of the Primary Healthcare Practitioner (Chiropractor) in context of the General Chiropractic Councils (GCC) Code Standards of conduct, performance and ethics; June 2016. Including issues of patient consent and data protection.  

To provide a vehicle whereby students can enhance and consolidate their clinical skills. 

Allow for clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills (integration and critical analysis) to be applied to outcomes in theoretical and real scenarios. 

To introduce patient report outcome measures (PROMS) and their use in case management. 

To justify the need for clinical imaging and demonstrate competency in performing radiographic procedures across the range of examinations commonly encountered by the chiropractor.

# Learning Outcome
LO1 Demonstrate the clinical competencies as expected by a chiropractor at clinic entrance level, and apply these in the context of a working knowledge of the GCC’s Code of Professional Practice (December 2024).
LO2 Develop and implement clinically reasoned patent care plans that reflect the full scope of multimodal chiropractic practice, aligned with clinic policies and procedures, to ensure a competent transition into the role of student clinician within the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic outpatient clinic.
