Module Aims

This module provides an opportunity for students to examine and gain insight into the different principles

necessary for strategic management. The module will focus on turning policy and strategic aims into outcome led objectives, and help the student to understand the importance of good governance and effective management of results in order to strategically manage sports organisations.

Content Summary

The module include the following topics:

Sports policy and strategy

Turning strategy into actions via strategic planning

Vision, mission and strategic objectives

Governance of organisations

Measuring value for money and return on investment

Measuring organisational performance

Research and insight to underpin sport organisational priorities (evidence based decisions)

Role of the board

Monitoring and evaluation using tools such as RBA, scorecards, RAG ratings etc.

Effective partnerships

How to be a strategic leader
