Module Aims

Develop students awareness of the importance of developing self-awareness and ‘conscious use of self’ in relation to peers and clients.

Facilitate students to consider own cultural identity in relation to self and others and the professional context.

Content Summary

Develop self- awareness in relation to others, past, present and future and aspects of counselling theory in personal development.

Develop skills in self-reflection and personal development, identifying patterns of relating and responding.

Self-practice and personal development - working with unhelpful aspects of one’s own interpersonal style

Develop key skills, e.g. giving and receiving feedback, working with challenge, recognising patterns of relating.

Ongoing professional practice and development, developing a portfolio of experience, skills and practice
