Module Aims
To introduce students to design for film and television.
To give an overview of the designers’ role within the production process.
To illustrate the diferrence in designing for single/ multi camera non drama productions.
To introduce appropriate technical drawing, modelmaking and visualising techniques to express design solutions.
Content Summary
Students will work from a brief and produce the production design scheme for a range of non drama productions for a given studio space.
Students will develop the design, accomodating action, audience and technical practicalities of accomodating cameras and variety of cameras.
Students will be able to understand how to design and produce working drawings including studio plans and construction drawings manually.
Field trips to TV studio and a studio recording will be arranged to illustrate and inform the design process.
On completing this module students will be able to understand a range of non drama formats and design appropriately.
