Module Aims

The aim of this module is to increase students’ awareness and appreciation of entrepreneurship. They will do this by; focusing upon the role of entrepreneurs in society, understanding the entrepreneurial mind-set, and discovering the associated characteristics and traits of ‘being entrepreneurial’ and ‘being an entrepreneur’.

Content Summary

Progressing from the compulsory immersive learning week where students participate in an enterprise challenge, the entrepreneur will be discussed by considering the alternative methods of entrepreneurial implementation. Students will explore entrepreneurship whilst discovering the diverse environments that can and have been utilised from an entrepreneurial perspective. Students will comprehend the importance of business models, and in groups implement a business model in detail for a contemporary business idea. Following this, students will evaluate their own entrepreneurial traits and skills and will self-reflect on their entrepreneurial competencies utilising psychometric questionnaires and reflective models.

The module content will also draw upon the theories and models presented in other level 4 modules, for example Marketing and Supply Chain Management, to support student understanding of the multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary nature of the course.
