Module Aims

To develop student’s personal skills, awareness and discipline that is essential in the workplace.

To develop students’ problem-solving skills, so that they can identify, analyse and give accurate/relevant advice based on the context of the organisation.

To develop a logical, methodical and efficient strategy to research that is relevant to those issues and the ability to present that research in a clear, readable and authoritative manner.

To develop the ability to communicate (chair meetings, interview key personnel, design a proposal, write business reports and present research to various audiences.) in a clear and concise manner.

Content Summary

The module allows students to participate in a ‘consultancy firm’ providing research and advice to organisations. The students act as Trainee Analysts and work on behalf of the organisation analysing sectors (macro and micro analysis) and applying knowledge gained from previous modules. Students will be required to expand and explore models and theories relevant to their subject area and apply theory to practice. Students get to the root of the problem, which results in a detailed report and presentation of their recommendations. The students will have the opportunity to work with different types of companies from SME’s, multi-national and non-profit organisations*.

In preparation for this project, students will complete an introduction to research methods or consultancy project during the induction and experential learning week at the start of level 6. The presentation element is based on activities and learning carried out in the induction and experiential learning week.

* Depending on Business Clinic demand.
