Module Aims

To develop students as reflective professionals through production of a portfolio of original and substantial journalism, adapted and delivered for selected platforms, both through team work and individually; and via continuing and final reflection based on an understanding of professional practice.

Content Summary

Story-finding and story-telling

Practical multi-media journalism skills Pitching of ideas

Major individual journalism project Contribution to major group project

Students will produce journalistic content for group and individual projects, choosing a lead platform but hosting it in a multimedia environment.

Students will reflect during their project work and will submit a final written reflection based on their knowledge and experience of professional practice.

Ethical matters - such as the potential for intrusion into privacy - will be dealt with by reference to the industry's recognised codes of ethical practice and kept under review by the module leader.

This module contains a six-week immersive learning element.
