Module Aims

To enable the student to develop further skills, abilities in animation and visual practice. While enhancing visual communication with the application of moving image.

Facilitate the use of a variety of materials and techniques utilising both traditional and digital media.

Apply intermediate levels of technical skills as appropriate to the illustration in the contexts of moving image.

Content Summary

In this module, students will develop the skills required to produce appropriate illustrative responses enhanced by elements of moving image. Students will focus on the development of animation and motion graphics in both traditional and digital formats. Refining their personal visual language and gaining a deeper understanding of the contextualization of illustration and moving image.

At the heart of this module is the appropriate application of drawing skills, honing and refining technical skills, purposeful visual communication and the basics of bringing their illustrations to life with animation. Together with an advanced understanding of the technical software within the Adobe Creative Suite.

Students will create a portfolio of responding to various creative problems presented and will be encouraged to experiment and explore visual opportunities utilising moving image for illustration.

This module will be portfolio based with a large proportion of time given to practical sessions, studio time and directed study.
