Module Aims

Develop an understanding of working in collaboration and across disciplines, identifying and utilising personal

strengths and skills.

To enable the student to investigate the application of illustration to products and brands.

Encourage the use of appropriate materials and techniques to the development of effective illustration for

product.

Enable the student to explore the application of illustration for 3D environments, including but not confined to

public, private and community spaces.

Develop further understanding of working with a client and applying skills to a given brief.

Apply appropriate materials and techniques to the development of effective illustration within a 3Dimensional

space.

Content Summary

This project-based module will enable students to consider the specific role of the illustrator in the context of products, brands, advertising various external and internal locations and environments. Students will be required to respond to a brief aligned to industry and will produce imagery that fits a particular context of illustration. The emphasis will be on cross-platform, inter-disciplinary group work. The students will work in a self-directed team of other creatives to realise the brief.

The aim of this module is to develop individual confidence in the role of illustrator within a larger creative team, working alongside other creative people from Advertising, Graphics,

Animation, Fashion, Journalism and Photography. This will present a real-world scenario of collaborative working as seen in industry.

Students will explore through project supervision and studio practice the various visual elements required by

different clients, gaining a deeper understanding of the production process and professional practice reflected

by different forms of product and environments.
