Module Aims
Enable the student to undertake a sustained research project in a field relating to illustration and/or design and present this in written format.
Further advance critical, analytical and evaluative research methodologies and their application to a written assignment.
Provide a coherent link between the methods of academic research and creative practice.
Content Summary
This module will enable students to undertake a sustained research project in a field relating to Illustration. Students will be required to identify and apply an appropriate range of research methodologies for their selected topic and extend and develop critical, analytical and evaluative skills in relation to illustration practice, design and the creative industries.
The module will refine and advance personal organisational and time management skills and will focus on autonomous learning, advancing skills appropriate to individual projects and self-directed study. The importance of self-reflective practice and the analysis of increasingly complex theoretical perspectives will be considered and students will be encouraged to direct their choice of project to complement their chosen career path and Final Major Illustration Project.
