Module Aims

To enable the student to analyse in-depth approaches to assessment, diagnostic and intervention techniques related to people in a variety of healthcare settings

Content Summary

The content of this module will be applied across all four fields of nursing:

Pathophysiology to inform and enhance in-depth assessment, interventions, meeting developmental, mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural needs across the age range and client groups.

Communication and interpersonal skills applied to assessment and therapeutic interventions.

Concepts of service user/family/carer concordance

Critical analyse of evidence base underpinning assessment, diagnostics and therapeutic interventions to inform person centred care and management

Assessing and managing risk, recognising and assessing urgent/crisis situations across a range of care settings

Concepts of critical/urgent/crisis care across varied client groups and care settings

Planning and delivering mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural interventions in primary, secondary and tertiary care across the lifespan as outlined in Annex B

Palliation and end of life care applied different client groups.

Collaborating with the multi professional team, families and carers in processes of assessment, interventions toward treatment, recovery, rehabilitation and end of life care needs

Pharmacokinetics & dynamics, medicines management and professional responsibilities, medicines optimisation applied to field of practice.

Concept of service users/family/carer involvement.

Tests and evaluations to inform processes of assessment and diagnostics. Using clinical judgement.

Person-centred care and management: the evidence base underpinning assessment, diagnostics and therapeutic interventions.
