Module Aims

To enable the student to evaluate care within the context of practice utilising a wide range of evidence

Content Summary

The content of this module will be applied across all four fields of practice. The module will explore the following themes:

Evidence and its application across a variety of settings.

Identifying research methodologies and evaluating strengths and weaknesses

Exploration and critical approaches to evidence to inform care and its application to processes of evaluation across a range of settings

Definitions of quality related to health and social care, meeting the needs of service users.

Person centred evaluation of care, the service user voice in process of evaluation. Supporting service users to become partners in quality mechanisms

Mechanisms for measuring quality and effectiveness of nursing care
Using care delivery evaluation to inform continuous improvement
Promoting a quality service to maximise effective care delivery.

Understanding the PDSA cycle
Understanding adverse incidents related to client care: reporting and lessons learned.
