Module Aims

To prepare the student to be able to critically evaluate and apply a variety of learning and teaching strategies when supporting learning of others within a range of care settings.

Content Summary

The content of this module will be applied across all four fields of nursing. The module will explore the following themes:

Educating for health & wellbeing: the role of the nurse in educating patients/service users, families and carers and promoting independence.

Education and the context of information giving, informed choice, person centred care, supporting service user decision making

Promoting therapeutic interaction through learning.

Creating positive learning environments which are inclusive to physical and psychological well-being.

Learning Styles and teaching strategies:

Understanding, adapting and developing accessible and inclusive approaches to teaching & learning.

Promoting therapeutic interactions through learning

Developing effective presentation skills.

The role of the multi-professional team in supporting teaching and learning processes.

Methods of feed forward and feedback when evaluating learning

Ensuring diversity, equality and inclusion in facilitating learning.

Organising, co-ordinating and running groups.
