The module aims to provide an introduction to the objectives and techniques of management accounting in a business context.

Content Summary

Introduction to management accounting, its nature, scope and context in organisations.

Introduction to cost terms and concepts including cost behaviour.

Use of the main costing systems including traditional, direct (variable/marginal) and activity based costing.

The application of management accounting techniques in business decision making including the use of cost volume profit analysis.

The application of management accounting techniques used in planning and performance measurement including, standard costing, cash budgeting, flexible budgeting and variance analysis.
