Version 1
Valid From 01 Sep 2020
Valid To 31 Aug 2026

Module Aims

Build confidence to use various techniques to visually communicate Interior Design proposals.

Explore model making techniques for the purposes of design development and prototyping.

Develop software skills to digitize drawings for laser cutter processes and model making.

Introduce students to using digital processes to enhance their visual work with post imaging software(such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) in the context of Interior Design.

Enable students to reflect upon their process and choices when creating Interior Design visuals, for instance, regarding visual content, composition, annotation, and graphic impact.

Content Summary

As part of the design process, Interior Designers initially collate research and analysis information, create concept ideas and visuals, then explore these further using a range of drawn, digital, and 3D modelling techniques before arriving at a design resolution and creating final 2D and 3D models.

This module runs in tandem with the Interior Design Projects 1 module and allows students to explore how they visually communicate their ideas at various points in the design process, as well as equipping them with the analogue and digital modelling and visualization skills to do so.
