Valid From 01 Sep 2020
Valid To 31 Aug 2026

Module Aims

Explore concepts relating to the definition and the ordering of spaces and their associated content through the study of line, form, light, colour, texture, plane and volume.
Develop good judgement of 3D geometry and spatial configuration.Enable students to apply research and problem-solving techniques to arrive at a design solution and rationale for work in response to a brief.

Content Summary

This module introduces students to the key concepts and approaches underpinning Interior Design practice, enabling students to produce their own creative work with a defined rationale.

On this module, students ‘learn by doing’ while fulfilling Interior Design Project briefs that develop students’ understanding of 3D geometry and spatial configuration.

The projects may relate to different areas of specialism within Interior Design, such as exhibition, retail, domestic, commercial or heritage projects, giving students awareness of the possible scope within the field. Wherever possible, these projects follow live briefs, which gives students experience working with real sites and clients early in the learning journey to develop their confidence and professionalism.
