Module Aims

Increase student autonomy through the pursuit of a self-selected research topic (i.e. of personal interest or in relation to their career goals).
Extend independent critical, analytical, and evaluative skills by undertaking a sustained research project.
Develop communication, planning, organisation, and time management skills to degree level.

Content Summary

This module gives students the opportunity to explore an area of personal interest and/or in relation to their career goals. Students will research a topic of their choice and develop a reasoned argument, culminating in a final written outcome, which may include elements of originality.

Students will develop research skills appropriate to individual projects and form independent modes of working, enabling them to become increasingly autonomous in their learning.

Students will be introduced to exemplars of successful projects, evaluation of presentation formats and procedures.
