Module Aims

Refine discipline skills to produce a professional drawing set for detailing and production of internal elements.
Acquaint students with the Interior Design procurement process in principle and the production of relevant information that sits alongside the design proposal presentations.
Broaden awareness of products and materials relative to architecture and design and how these are integrated into the design scheme thoughtfully.
Enhance students’ ability to appraise their work in relation to professional standards.

Content Summary

The Production Information module develops detailing and drawing content to support the final year design project work. This module builds on the introduction to production drawings and specification at Level 5 in the Interior Design Professional Skills assignments.
In parallel with the Major Project and Professional Practice Assignments in Level 6, the drawing package within this module will present the required information to explain and quantify the proposed Interior Design scheme and main internal elements. This develops confidence in producing relevant discipline format drawings, such as technical detailing, finishes layouts and reflective soffit plans integrating lighting schematics.
The students will recognise the importance of design development and procurement information as a core part of the discipline. Students will become familiar with the process of procurement, understanding production, costing, co-ordination and assembly. Whilst producing the required information, they will also be encouraged to identify how different companies apply these general processes more specifically to their specialist practice.
