Module Aims

• Instil historical, theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to future continuity film-making content, production techniques and practices.
• Equip students with the necessary continuity craft skills and the understanding to express themselves through creative exploration and development.
• Develop comprehension and appreciation through collaborative crew work of the importance of respect, professionalism and collaborative working in regard to film-making practice.
• Provide a range of exciting challenges and problem-solving opportunities for the students to apply themselves creatively in closely supported pre-production and supervised shoots.
• Enable students through successful completion of individual and collaborative group production tasks to develop graduate attributes transferable to other professions such as promotional marketing, education and journalism.

Content Summary

This module builds upon practice initiated in Craft 2: Studio Introduction by providing studio-based, supervised continuity shoots to reinforce professional, creative and logistical continuity drama, and documentary interview, pre-production practices and on-set etiquette.
Alongside a series of craft specialism workshops, working collaboratively students will, learn about working in large crews on set and the many varied roles, in an observed studio shoot.

Each student will be assigned a particular role and will write an evaluative report on their role and contribution to the shoot.
