Module Aims

• Provide an opportunity for students to consolidate prior learning and apply this knowledge to more complex commissioned project briefs.
• Develop advanced skills within their chosen specialist field.
• Further develop a range of appropriate communication, presentation and other transferable skills required in order to successfully collaborate with others.
• Develop an awareness of personal responsibility and professional codes of conduct appropriate to their chosen specialist practice.
• Understand the relationship between undergraduate learning experience, industry and work-place practice.

Content Summary

In this module students will collaborate with others, some external to their programme, in order to produce an appropriate creative outcome in response to a set project brief.
The nature of the project brief will be organised by, or agreed with, the module leader and will adhere to the legal and ethical guidelines of the University.
The brief may include collaborations with other programmes or external organisations, or individual work placements. It may also include producing a film for a festival or competition.
The brief will build on the knowledge and skills developed during the course to date.
As part of this process students will attend a ‘Meet a Client Day’ at the very start of the semester to meet up with and hopefully obtain a client for whom they will create a promotional film.
There is a broad time limit of 1-10 minutes depending on the clients need, and the promos can be fictional or factual.
Students will need to hand-in a production folder, which will include client feedback.
Students will also have classes on developing strong, professional social media presences and creating a CV for possible summer placements.
