Module Aims

This module aims to facilitate the student to further develop their role as a prescriber.

To promote cyclical reflective learning for professional development through self-evaluation and the utilization of evidence from prescribing practice

To provide students with the structure to compile a career long portfolio of evidence to facilitate personal and professional development in prescribing, sustain registration through providing evidence for revalidation and support their role in developing the
prescribing practice of their peers

Content Summary

This module will be a student led approach to continuing professional development in prescribing. The work will focus on developing prescribing theory and practice beyond that which is required for initial registration and will support the student to develop a deeper understanding of their future role as prescriber.

The work submitted will provide an additional opportunity to expand the evidence that is aligned to ‘A Competency Framework for all Prescribers’ (Royal Pharmaceutical Society, 2016). This portfolio will also be aligned to the revalidation requirements of the three regulators (GPhC, HCPC and NMC).

The module will embrace elements of critical reflection and evaluation of practice that will facilitate action planning for future prescribing roles including the role of supporting and mentoring other non – medical prescribers.
