Module Aims

• To critically evaluate the evidence base underpinning social work theories, models and methods to enable an appropriate course of action for service users and carers.
• To critically evaluate evidence informed practice to expand the students understanding and ability to respond to disadvantage and oppression.
• To develop a critical understanding of the research process and its application to Social Work practice

Content Summary

• Critically appraise contemporary research related to social work practice and its underpinning knowledge base.

• Explore ideas on how to apply research to their own practice setting and make recommendations for practice developments.

• Examination of the research process, design and conduct of research, ethical issues inherent in researching professional practice and its application to the professional setting.

• Exploration of the validity and reliability of research
