Module Aims

1. To facilitate critical exploration of social, cultural and technological interpretations of fashion.
2. To encourage debate of the complex relationship between ‘fashion’ and culture.
3. To foster the development of academic research and communication skills.

Content Summary

This module will introduce students to a range of interpretations of fashion, exploring a variety of social, cultural, and technological viewpoints.

Alongside this, students will develop and hone academic skills needed to research, critically explore and evaluate a range of material that will reciprocally enhance both their wider design practice and other modules.

These will be explored through interactive learning environments (thematic lectures and workshops), complemented by both directed and independent study.
