Module Aims

• To introduce students to the various technologies they will work with on the course.
• To develop foundation skills with these technologies and explore how they inform and contribute to the creative process.
• To develop students’ technical competency and connect technical skills with creative procedures and professional practice.
• To create, capture, manipulate and present audio and visual material.
• To explore the mutually supportive relationship between technical skills and aesthetic practices.

Content Summary

Students will be taught how to use digital audio/video recorders/cameras and associated editing suites and playback technologies culminating in the production of a short film and audio drama (or podcast).
There will also be 6 sessions introducing and exploring the relationship between technology and screen performance (film grammar, sound, acting etc.). Another 6 sessions exploring the relationship between technology and audio performance (audio technique, sound effects and acting).
