Module Aims

The aims of this module are to:

• Enable the student to pursue research in an area of Drama with an advanced level of theoretical analysis and awareness of the relationship of the research to the context of contemporary practice.

• Develop an understanding of research methods and approaches relevant to the specific study undertaken.

Content Summary

Advanced research or study comprising a combination of library-based reading, critical analysis and/or empirical research involving, for example interviews with practitioners, observation of working processes and audience research on a topic chosen by the student and approved by an appointed Dissertation supervisor.

Students will be encouraged to choose a topic related to their professional or work experience and/or relevant for their future academic or professional development.

The student will be required to submit a Research Proposal indicating the intended research area, proposed research questions, likely theoretical and methodological stances, research plan, and potential outcomes.
