Module Aims

To critically apply the evidence base to address issues within public health care systems. To develop an understanding of needs assessment and health impact assessment to support evidence-based interventions. To develop skills in pathway development for integrated services.

Week 1

Organisation and management of care and healthcare systems.
To understand different organisational structures of health services & the implications for public health.

Week 2

Needs assessment.
To understand the methodology for and implementation of health needs assessment.
To understand the uses of health needs assessment.

Week 3

Health impact assessment.
To understand the methodology for and implementation of health impact assessment.
To understand the uses of health impact assessment.

Week 4

Safeguarding equality and diversity.
Current social and health policies and the implications for equality and equity in public health practice.

Week 5

Quality and patient safety (risk management).
Audit.
Health economics and its application in the allocation of health and care services to individuals and groups.
Quality audit of public health interventions

Week 6

Pathways for service integration.
To understand current service provision and integration across systems.
To understand pathways of service delivery and integration.
To understand pathways of service transformation, and the application of transformation techniques.

# Learning Outcome
LO1 Critically apply the evidence base to the factors that impact on public health issues within a variety of health and care systems, whilst reflecting on the strength, weaknesses and limitations of using robust data and evidence.
LO2 Critically apply appropriate techniques and methods to the analysis of health care public health issues and linked health data and evidence for populations and population groups, and protect the health of populations in a healthcare environment.
