Module Aims

This module aims to:
• Introduce students to academic skills in HE.
• Develop collaborative practice, communication, innovation and problem solving.
• Introduces student to the importance of storytelling as a means of communicating with young learners.

Content Summary

What are the academic skills required to study at level 4 in HE
• Storytelling within the curriculum
• The importance of collaborative practice
• How storytelling can be an effective means of communicating with young children
• The importance of teamworking, problem solving and innovation
• Using creativity to design and develop a story sack for use with young children
• Development of presentation skills to showcase story sack to peers
• Consideration of different learning environments such as a story sack based on the outdoors
• Consideration of how developed story sack can promote learning and development across all areas of learning in the current early years curriculum in Wales
• Reflection as a tool to improve own practice
• Project management skills are developed
