Module Aims

1. To enable students to generate concepts, proposals and solutions in response to negotiated and self-initiated creative arts practice.

2. To encourage distinctive and speculative approaches to media and processes to open up new lines of enquiry through the application of experiential and theoretical knowledge underpinned by reflective practice.

3. To engage with current debate, research and to contextualise self-directed practice within the area of Arts, Health and Wellbeing in preparation for undertaking negotiated arts practice with individuals, groups and external organisations.

Content Summary

This module will focus on the development of students’ arts practice and its position within the field of arts, health and wellbeing. Students will inform and contextualise their practice through appropriate research and critically evaluate process and outcomes.
During the module students will be engaged in the following:

• Negotiating and undertaking a practical project within arts health and wellbeing.
• Project planning, management and evaluation as an integral part of this process.
• Undertaking different forms of self-directed learning employing both divergent and convergent investigation, speculative enquiry, visualisation and creation.
• Exploring and adapting diverse approaches to media and processes.
• Researching and developing ideas, objects and events.
• Evaluating and developing strategies for working.
• Consulting closely with tutors and where appropriate external partners to determine expectations, intended outcomes, roles and responsibilities.
• Contextualising arts practice in relation to arts, health and wellbeing settings and practices.
