Module Aims
To select, apply, justify and reflect upon safe and appropriate treatment modalities for the management of musculoskeletal injuries.
To recognise and apply knowledge of contraindications to treatment modalities for musculoskeletal injuries.
To critically apply current literature to determine the effectiveness of commonly used treatment modalities in musculoskeletal medicine.
Content Summary
In this module students will study:-
Manual therapy for peripheral and spinal joint pathology
Advanced soft tissue modalities such as advanced myofascial techniques
Advanced neural techniques such as peripheral nerve mobilisations
Safe application of manual therapy including contraindications, red flags and informed consent.
All assessment components must be passed by the student.
Students must attend more than 80% of the module to complete the practical assessment
