Module Aims
1. To strengthen the conceptual understanding of students acknowledgement of the right for young people to a human rights education (specifically UNCRC) and the role of non-formal education and youth work in promoting such.
2. To enhance the skills of students in understanding delivery of advocacy and applying it to their own rights-based approach to proactively foster civic engagement and active citizenship in the community
3. To develop knowledge and capacity of students in the design and implementation of targeted rights-based strategies or projects in their practice, notably in the education, youth policy, or youth work sector of the community.

1. Introduction
Understanding the socio-political context of children and young people’s rights from a historical perspective.

2. Rights-based approach to Youth Work
United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
The Wales Model – Children’s Commission for Wales, UNCRC & Legislation in Wales, Local, Regional and National partnership work with youth organisations e.g. Super Ambassadors Scheme, Student Ambassadors and Community Ambassadors. Wales Youth Parliament and Local Youth Parliament membership.
