Module Aims

1. To contribute to the development of research knowledge and skills at postgraduate level, for students on MA Arts Practice, Arts, Health and Wellbeing.
2. To encourage a critical engagement with approaches to creative practice, and with ideas, debates and issues in the creative and cultural industries.
Pertinent to developing a proposal for practice
3. To encourage the assimilation of critical evaluation and reflectivity within self-directed practice, which maybe personal, participatory or interdisciplinary.

Content Summary

Indicatively, the module will focus on the following content:
- Surveying the evolution and current state of arts, health and wellbeing, introducing themes and practices, including the prevalence and impact of health inequalities.
- The Reflective Practitioner: an introduction to ideas and practices
- Understanding practice as research
- Exploring relevant research methodologies and methods
- Surveying the literature: building on ideas and insights
- 'Creativity' - exploring ideas of creativity and creative processes
- Arts methodologies and production processes
- Presentations and Q&A
- Framing our study: further ideas about research and practice in Arts, Health and Wellbeing
