Module Aims

The module aims to prepare students for a graduate career or postgraduate study, identifying the historians’ employability or transferable skills developed through the degree programme, presenting oneself professionally (in person, in writing, and on social media), and engaging in personal and career development planning.

Content Summary

The module is based on a meaningful work placement or live project. The purpose is to allow students to develop and reflect on the skills required for a graduate career which may or not be directly related to history. Students will either undertake a work placement or participate in a history-based live project. The students either arrange a placement themselves, with the help of the USW Careers Work Placement Team or a GoWales advisor, or apply for a place on a live project organised by colleagues in the University. The work placement or project must focus on employability or transferable skills developed on the degree programme. The taught content focuses on graduate careers and skills. It draws on the tools and resources available through USW Careers.
