Module Aims
To enable students to critically explore the nature of Interprofessional, and inter-agency collaboration developments by examination of the strengths and weaknesses of their own collaborative practice experiences.
To develop students as reflective team workers who understand the value and purpose of the youth & community work contribution to collaborative working with other professions.
To develop students' leadership skills in the implementation of youth and community work methods, values, ethical practice, safeguarding and anti-oppressive practice when working alongside other professional disciplines, agencies and in multi-agency partnerships.

Content Summary
• What is meant by interprofessional and inter-agency collaboration’ (IPIAC)
• Why IPIAC has grown in importance; the kinds of evidence that informs IPIAC i.e. key policies and legislation, and their timeline
• The nature of collaboration, why it is important, its purposes and its growing place in policy and practice
• Professional identities and difference, models of practice and ways of sustaining professional identity of youth & community work practice within IPIAC.
• The multiple spheres of practice and collaboration – interpersonal, interprofessional, inter-disciplinary team, inter-agency and community –explored using an evidence-based approach of practitioner experiences.
• Leadership of IPIAC teams: Myths and Models
• How agencies shape professional roles and supply key resources, the interdependence of agencies and professionals, and the importance of IPIAC in supporting and safeguarding young people.
• Exploring agencies’ perceptions of legitimacy; who comes to the professional table? Knowing who I am and What I do?
• Different professional discourses: tribal interests and professional identity of youth & community work
• Theories around partnership working, systems theory, complexity theory, new public management, managerialism and modernisation of the youth & community sector workforce
• Case Study examples of best practice models of partnership working, inter-professional working, and its successes and failures.
