Module Aims

This module aims to embed language and academic skills into students’ subject knowledge through the production of a research project consisting of an academic essay and a presentation. The module is designed to enhance students’ engagement with their subject area at a language level appropriate for level 4 study.

Content Summary

The module provides students with an opportunity to select and area of interest related to their target degree and explore this in the context of academic study. A number of formative tasks will be set, which help to guide students through each step of the process of developing an academic essay and an individual presentation.

The module will develop the key knowledge and core skills required for the production of an academic project and presentation, such as research skills, paraphrasing, referencing and presentation techniques.
