Module Aims

To develop learners’ knowledge of performance psychology theory and its application in different contexts (including sport and exercise). To develop a critical understanding of how performance psychology can be used to inform the practice of those working in different contexts. To explore the critical use of psychological principles to enhance athlete, coach, and practitioner performance.

Content Summary

Psychology for performance; motivation and motivational climates; the psychology of injury; stress and performance; mental well-being and self-care; leadership; building high quality relationships; psychological skills development; mental toughness; developing group cohesion and team culture; psychological aspects of athletic development; psychological assessment.
