Module Aims

To provide students with advanced knowledge in the design of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete, composite construction, and connections in accordance with the relevant current standards.

To introduce to the students the latest techniques and design methods in using advanced Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite materials for the strengthening and upgrading of degraded concrete bridges and buildings.

Content Summary

To enable students to understand and conceptually design advanced structures and exercise appropriate judgement, based on requirements of client/multidiscipline design team and sustainability.

To use software and practical work to enhance understanding of design.
