Module Aims

This module aims to provide students with subject knowledge about digital technology within their own subject discipline

Content Summary

This module builds on the knowledge and understanding gained through the module ‘exploring digital technologies’, by exploring new and emerging digital technologies and concepts which have the potential to transform a specialist discipline such as the health and social care sector for example on a national and international scale.

Students will explore technologies which have disrupted established practice within different economic sectors, and then explore the potential for such innovation to impact within their own specialist area.

This module will be informed by research and case studies which will include examples of disruptive digital technologies and interventions made at a national and international level.

Module content will be delivered that is current and relevant at the time of writing, but which may change significant over the coming decade.

This may include, but is not limited to, subjects such as telemedicine, smartphone apps, wearable diagnostics, speech recognition, virtual and augmented reality, predictive analytics using AI, reading the genome.
