Module Aims

To enable students to engage in experiential learning and to provide the opportunity for students to apply their newfound theoretical knowledge to real workplace situations.
To enable students to enhance their employability by engaging in live placement or employment practice and completion of workplace tasks.
To enable students to engage in reflective practice thereby enhancing personal development and providing a mechanism for lifelong learning and continuous improvement.

Content Summary

The electronic WBL workbook (e-Portfolio) will contain a series of tasks that are based on key skills and specific skills relevant to the workplace practice including the following:

Written Communication Oral Communication Using IT
Collaborating with Others Organisation
Self Analysis and Personal Development Planning Managing Tasks
Time Management Reflective Practice Problem Solving

The ePortfolio allows students to practice these key skills and also apply general theoretical concepts learned on the course.

Although the learning process will be mainly focused on the workplace activities, learning material will be made available both online and via on-campus seminars that aims to prepare the student adequately for the workplace practice and to ensure that the student maximises the learning opportunity presented at the workplace.

This module will facilitate the development of Personal Development Planning (PDP) through the delivery of a range of key skills identified in the module descriptor, and through the development of personal reflection skills and processes. This will include the undertaking of a personal review of skills/behaviours and competencies at the beginning of the module.
