Module Aims

To introduce basic networking concepts in a practical context, including the design, installation and configuration of a network.

To introduce networking protocols and services including addressing mechanisms, in the context of existing and emerging network technologies and standards

Content Summary

  • Introduction to networking and common network devices.

  • End and intermediate devices and cabling configuration.

  • Introduction to Ports and Protocols covering: Ethernet and Internet Protocol, Network protocols and Connectivity Verification

  • Network Communication Devices and services

  • Network design, device addressing and subnetting

  • Network security infrastructure and emerging technologies

  • Introduction to Cloud networks and IoT
