Develop and demonstrate knowledge of the tools and techniques associated with the creation and delivery of a digital forensic investigation.

Content Summary

  • Introduction to crime scene investigation – CoC, contemporaneous notes, case & evidential management etc.

  • Forensic Phases, search warrants, pre-imaging etc. /legislation (PACE 1984, DPA etc.).

  • Drive geometry & Introduction to Magnet AXIOM Process – Imaging/Extractions

  • Introduction to Magnet AXIOM EXAMINE & Windows Registry

  • OS Artefacts (Windows)

  • Internet Artefacts (Different Browsers)

  • Expert witness Reports

Asynchronous Assessment Field Folio 1 A submission of work that may contain a number of elements that are applicable to the theory and skills demonstrated in the field environment. In the context of this module, this will include the Crime Scene House assessment, forensic analysis, and expert witness report. The students will be required to attend the crime scene house to collect their evidence, they will use this evidence within the forensic analysis, then use this analysis to write the expert witness report. Asynchronous Assessment Student Choice 1 This will include a choice between a written report and a vlog on a given topic. For example, given the topic of ‘The Importance of Evidential Management’, the students can either choose to write a report on the importance of evidential management in a forensic investigation, or can choose to create a vlog discussing this topic. 10 1500 40 No 40
