Module Aims

To enable students to gain meaningful experience by partaking in award related world of work and work-based learning.

Content Summary

The specific content of the module will vary according to the chosen field of study. However in the course of their study, any of the following stages may be encountered:

1. Written and oral presentation, at an early stage of the module, of aims of the study and a plan of work.

2. Review of relevant sources of information, obtained through library-based research and, as appropriate, use of the internet and personal approaches to people and organisations.

3. Familiarisation, as appropriate, with relevant software systems, datasets and organisations.

4. Implementation involving, for example, use of computer packages, writing of software, experimentation with datasets, interviewing of people.

5. Synthesis of results in the form of a written report, which may include presentation of objectives, documentation of the material studied, critical evaluation of the results, conclusions and recommendations for further study.
