Module Aims

• To introduce the importance of visual awareness within
the medium of animation.
• To practically investigate and explore visual language
through drawing and mark-making activities.
• To theoretically investigate visual language as related to
art works, the still, and moving images.

Content Summary

This module will allow students to develop a range of drawing skills through the following exercises and challenges:
• Realistic, representational life drawing;
• Anatomy and animal structure;
• Head, hands and feet drawing;
• Clothed figure studies;
• Quick studies;
• Quick sketches of urban surrounds and landscapes;
• Exploration through a variety of mark-making media.
Students will further investigate visual language through reading images, colour, composition and layout, content, meaning and interpretation.
