Module Aims
• To refine students understanding of the theories and technical principles of cinematography and visual communication using principles of 2D and Stop Motion
• To improve skills in organising and managing workloads, and meeting deadlines in order to achieve intended goals, in such a way that it mirrors professional practices in the industry
Content Summary
This is an immersive module for year 2. The module will introduce students to the animation commissioning process and industry submission requirements specifications and expectations for 2D and Stop Motion Design and Animated work.
The student will gain an understanding of budgeting, scheduling and production milestone deadlines and exhibit knowledge and understanding of the technical skills associated with stop motion and 2D animation .
For those students focusing on the concept design process, 2D and Stop motion students will enhance their knowledge with further technical skills and development in digital 2D design-based work for animatics and style framing and for stop motion, puppetry props and set design which will be undertaken in order to satisfy submission requirements in relation to a short video ‘sting’ commission.
For Animation pathway students, further advanced 2D and stop motion animation production and performance skills will be developed in the creation of a short animated ‘Sting’ audio-visual sequence, to the commissioning specifications.
Students will also undertake continuous critical review and evaluation in an iterative, formative assessment cycle in relation to industry requirements and submission expectations.
