Module Aims
• To enhance students awareness of the requirements and pitfalls of self-promotion and survival as a freelance media professional
• To prepare for, and enhance awareness of, the real world of the animation and related industries
Content Summary
• Students will research the contemporary animation industry and/or alternative modes of using transferable animation skills in relation to their chosen specialism(s)and how they will fit into the current world of animation employment.
• This culminates in a presentation to an industry and academic panel that will include a detailed plan of how they will promote themselves as freelancers. Students will also devise their own range of relevant self-promotional materials – e.g. showreel, website/blog, business cards to be assessed alongside the presentation.
• The module will include a series of lectures and workshops by internal and external media and business professionals; and/or site visits to animation companies; and/or live networking sessions; and/or festival/screening/exhibition attendance or organisation.
• The module also works with the USW animation.com website as part of this module students will be asked to populate this.
