• To explore the range of academic and critical debates surrounding particular issues in animation practice
• To further develop students’ communication skills, and confidence

Content Summary

Building on work proposed at Level Five in AA2S28 Critical Studies in Animation, the optional dissertation module provides the intellectual space at Level Six in which students are able to undertake formal research into an area of personal interest that is also relevant to their subject specialism. It also provides the student with the opportunity to explore contemporary issues associated with their subject practice and in so doing develop a more informed understanding of the debates in theoretical, critical and historical areas relevant to their specialism.
There are two main elements to this module:
1. The opportunity to undertake an extended piece of research leading to a written text. Individual tutorials will support the research and writing of the dissertation.
2. A series of lectures exploring and establishing Research Methods supported by associated seminars, and workshop sessions within the Library and Learning Resource Centre.
The dissertation will be developed from an aspect of the Subject Modules undertaken at Levels 4 and 5, and it will be presented as a reasoned argument within the format of an academic dissertation at undergraduate level.
