Module Aims

• The aim of the module is to:
• To enable students to plan and execute a substantial literature review on a negotiated child related topic
• To provide students with an opportunity to collect and synthesize data from a variety of sources.
• To encourage students to develop an area of expertise, transferable to their practice environment.

Contemporary issues relating to children and young people
Safeguarding and protection
Social inclusion and exclusion
Beliefs, culture, values and norms in societies
Discrimination and prejudice
Poverty and deprivation
Influences of social media in society
An individual piece of work chosen by the student and approved by the delegated supervisor
Formulation of the topic and progress towards completion are monitored by the supervisor with whom regular tutorials will be arranged
This module includes mandatory formative assessment activities, to support students learning and development prior to summative assessment tasks
