Module Aims
To develop a fully resolved practical outcome drawn from a thorough designed research process in response to a given site.
To develop the ability to analyse and discuss practical outcomes in relation to a wide range of contemporary and historical visual practices.
To enable students to clearly and precisely articulate, in both practice and conversation, an appropriate conceptual and professional context for their practical outcomes.
Content Summary
At the heart of this module is a live brief that will investigate notions of site and place. It aims to provide a framework to develop the student’s individual material research skills and to help them to define their working methodology as they move towards level 6.
Students will make, discuss and consider their work within an expanded debate on contemporary photography. This debate will consider the students interests and concerns in relation to a specific site and will offer the opportunity to develop their ideas towards a fully realised outcome. This could be in a commercial or art-based context or even the exciting space in-between. They will be invited to consider new and challenging ways in which the photographic medium can be utilised and presented in a publishable outcome.
