  • To develop understanding of the design and implementation of a small-scale qualitative practice-based research project
  • To explore the meaning and purpose of ethics in research and professional practice contexts
  • To deepen understanding of the life and learning experiences of a specified learner in order to develop own practice
  • To contribute to, and benefit from, a supportive ‘research community’ of peers

Content Summary

  • Designing a project, gaining ethical approval and gaining informed consent for the research.
  • Designing a suitable informal interview and observation structure to explore the needs of an individual learner in depth.
  • Interviewing and observing the learner.
  • Developing and evaluating new interventions in learning support.
  • Presenting findings and implications for own practice to peers.
