Module Aims

The major aim of this module is to allow students to develop and enhance their professional practice in Natural History for use when seeking employment.

Students will also investigate entrepreneurism, freelancing and new business development aligned with the sector.

Students will engage with and attend online development courses, seminars and talks related to Natural History during the module to enhance their understanding of industry practice. These activities will be discussed and approved by the module leader.  

Content Summary

This module develops professional practice in Natural History aligned to their chosen career in the sector.

Students will reflect and evaluate the skills, qualities and attributes developed during the degree programme through skills audits, C.V. workshops and personal digital branding strategies.

Students will critically assess current industry standards, expectations, requirements and need through business and consultancy case studies. These will assist in the identification of key areas of development and enhancement. Students will undertake appropriate and approved self-directed training to address skills gaps and increase graduate employability.

The module will investigate how environmental, economic, social or cultural value may be generated through innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship. Strategies to realise these visions will be explored.
